Ableton 12.2 More Filters, Workflow and Automation

US Now in public beta      12/03/25

Ableton today announce the availability of the public beta for Live 12.2.
The update brings numerous new features and enhancements - with filters, modulation, automation, bouncing, and browser improvements, along with new devices and workflow refinements

Push also gets some: Expressive 16 Pitches, Follow Actions and External Audio Effects being highlights.

Highlights being - Bounce to New Track:
track or selection, MIDI or audio - include all processing or bounce in place.

Also the new Expressive Chords, an MPE-enabled Max for Live device for Live 12 Intro, Standard, and Suite, lets you explore interesting chords and progressions intuitively, one key or pad at a time. Create outside the confines of traditional keys and scales, go with what sounds good to you, and use MIDI and MPE controls for more expressive and natural results.

 

Auto Filter Overhaul

  • Redesigned UI & improved sound with enhanced visualizations.
  • New filter types including DJ, Comb, Vowel, Morph (now with four slopes), Resampling, and Notch + LP.
  • New filter circuits: SVF (clean/drive), DFM (distorted feedback), MS2 (Sallen-Key design), PRD (ladder design).

Modulation Enhancements

  • New LFO shapes: Wander, Ramp Up, and Ramp Down.
  • LFO Morphing: Allows transformation of the shape dynamically.
  • LFO quantization with "Steps" and "S&H" modes.
  • Sidechain improvements: Mono summing and added EQ.

Workflow & Automation

  • New keyboard-based automation editing for creating, moving, and deleting breakpoints.
  • Improved navigation and selection tools for automation lanes.
  • Session View: Scene Follow Actions now have "Unlinked" and "Longest" options.

Track Bouncing Updates

  • Bounce Track in Place and Bounce to New Track for rendering tracks efficiently.
  • Bouncing includes pre-mixer and post-FX effects.
  • Renamed "Freeze & Flatten Track" to "Bounce Track in Place."

Browser & Search Upgrades

  • Filter View redesigned for better tag-based navigation.
  • Quick Tags panel for managing custom tags.
  • Custom icons for Library and user folders.
  • Improved search bar with better tag suggestions.

Device Upgrades

  • Meld: New Chord oscillator and Scrambler LFO 1 FX.
  • Roar: Added Delay routing mode, Dispersion filter, and external MIDI sidechain.
  • Resonators & Spectral Resonator: Now scale-aware and support tuning systems.
  • Operator: Increased to 32-voice polyphony.
  • Drum Sampler: Improved envelope scaling and new playback options.

Arrangement & Session View

  • Take Lanes improvements: Easy toggling, deleting unused takes.
  • Group Tracks now take up less space and zoom dynamically.
  • Improved clip automation management.

Control Surface & Performance

  • Better support for Launchkey MK3, APC64, and Move controllers.
  • Windows GPU rendering option for smoother UI performance.
  • Faster plug-in scanning and browser indexing.

Max for Live Enhancements

  • Updated to Max 9.0.5 with improved device editing, API support, and Push 3 standalone features.
  • New LiveAPI access to Clip.start_time.

Various Bug Fixes

  • Improved MIDI handling, automation stability, and workflow efficiency.
  • Fixed UI glitches, note dropouts, and sample playback inconsistencies.
