Alanis Morissette's Ambient Album

US Deep soundscapes on 'the storm before the calm'      13/02/25

Many people are familiar with Alanis Morissette's chart topping alt-folk-pop (that's what I'm calling it) - but unbeknownst to me, she made an ambient album entitled 'the storm before the calm' in 2022! It was co-produced by Dave Harrington of Darkside and mastered by Taylor Deupree, a frequent collaborator of Ryuichi Sakamoto and other ambient/experimental artists.

Morissette's mastery of music is undeniable, and it seems she's able to carry the pop progressions over to a genre most people find quite challenging to make. You may even find a few vocals in there - genuinely amazing! Presumably a break-core album is just around the corner..

Alanis also had a hit record with the Freemasons - originally a bootleg - which has been recently remade for her Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie (Thank U Edition).
