Ode To The RMI Electra Piano From Jamie Lidell

Occasional SonicTALK guest and producer of the excellent Hanging Out With Audiophiles podcast Jamie Lidell, has just been in touch to let us know about a new video he's released focusing on the 1972 RMI electra- piano 368x.

After getting hold of one of these quite rare oscillator based pianos and stripping it down and re-tuning it (each note has its own oscillator), Jamie incorporated it into what he calls the German Setup.

Used by several notable players of era  - presumably as it was a lot easier to transport than a mechanical piano and had a unique sound.

Jamie gives us the background and examples of his playing as well as with examples from Eric Slick and Rob Burger.
