4MS MetaModule: December Updates

There's been a steady stream of exciting updates for 4MS's MetaModule, which we reviewed in October. The most exciting for me, at least, is the porting of new drum modules from SV Modular:

• Bass Drum 9 - Sample-based 909 Kick
• Closed HiHat - Sample-based HiHats
• CR78 - Sample-based CR78 Kit
• DMX - Sample-based DMX Kit
• Open HiHat - Sample-based HiHats
• Synthetic Bass Drum - Synthesis-based Kick
• Snare Drum - Sample-based Novation Drumstation Snares
• Tomi - Sample-based Toms
• Gnome - Clock Module with Divisions
• Sequencer - Drum Grid Sequencer
• Baronial - Drum-focussed Envelope Generator
• Marionette Bass - Hybrid Sample/Synthesis Kick Drum

This is a pretty big boost for MetaModule's versatility. Up until now, we've mainly been using the onboard clones of Peaks & Plaits for drums (or synthesizing timbres from scratch!) but some sample-based drums are very welcome indeed. For those who enjoy running samples through odd effects chains - wavefolding, bitcrushing, etc, there'll be plenty of fun to be had! https://metamodule.info/plugins

Other updates of note:

• The fundamental/VCV Wavetable VCO will be implemented, it relies on file-system access that has only recently been added.
• CV Funk modules have contributed a number of unique modules for download; the 6-LFO madness of Hex Mod, complex oscillations of Ouros and much much more: 21 modules in total!
• KocMoc have contributed two new filter modules: uLADR & uSVF
• v2.0 is in development - new context menus, raw MIDI stream access for modules and various aesthetic improvements have been announced.

All in all, progression seems fairly rapid for a device of this scope - MetaModule seems to just keep on getting better.
