Can You Use a Carrot as an Audio Adapter?

It's not April fools day, you haven't had psychedelics slipped into your tea.... this video is about using a carrot to connect two leads together when no adapters are to hand. Yes, please read that again just to be sure. In this video Julian Krause goes to the root of the problem, with some audiophile grade vegetables to connect his cables together, while reporting the results. The idea was sparked by this Reddit Post from user Boltz999 who said:

"Used this setup for a week or two until I had the chance to go grab the correct connectors. Had to replace the carrots once. It's an older pic but I just found the sub today and it speaks to me on a deep level that I'm sure many of you can understand".

There is a reasonably significant discussion about the hows and whys of this idea on Reddit.
