Bristronica 24: Componental Dubby Processor

US Open DSP platform      13/10/24

At Bristronica 2024, we caught up with Erasmus from Componental, who presented the Dubby, an innovative modular hardware device designed as a versatile solution for musicians. Described as offering "freedom in a box," Dubby integrates a quadrophonic platform that functions as a synthesizer, audio effect unit, and mixer. All units share the same hardware configuration, providing four inputs and outputs, but they gain unique functionality based on the loaded software.

Erasmus explained how Dubby enables the application of different audio algorithms via a user-friendly ecosystem that allows users to flash these onto the device directly from a computer. Once uploaded, the device operates independently, achieving high resolution with 96K, 24-bit audio processing and 12-bit knob control for precise sound manipulation.

Dubby is set to launch on Kickstarter, priced around €550, with a variety of open-access and premium algorithms available in its store.
