GameVerb: Playstation, N64, & SNES Reverbs

US Retro reverb plugin from Impact Soundworks      13/09/24

Some time last year we had a flurry of interest in the Playstation Impulse responses - putting the original echo effects from the console in the hands of music producers for the first time. Impact Soundworks have gone one stage further to offer Playstation, N64, & SNES reverbs all in one plugin. You can even load presets from particular games, which is wildly fun for the gaming nerds among us! More details below...

Impact Soundworks has released GameVerb, a new reverb plugin that captures the signature reverbs of the Super Nintendo (SNES), Nintendo 64 (N64), and original PlayStation (PSX) video game consoles. The plugin can also be used to add unique flavor to lo-fi productions, EDM, digital fusion, or anything needing a retro feel.

GameVerb instantly transports any sound into the universes of classic games with one-click, game-accurate presets. The specific algorithms invented by game programmers of this era have been painstakingly recreated in modern code to give users the exact sound of legendary games. More hardcore users can enter Geek Mode to customize the settings in much greater detail. Additionally, global capabilities to lower the sample rate or use the five-mode Bit Rate Reduction filter give options to sculpt a vintage lo-fi sound.

"We make plugins that we want to use ourselves. I love to compose video game music in the style of this era of gaming, and now I can finally get 'that' reverb sound for my own music," said Impact Soundworks CEO Andrew Aversa. "And just like with Super Audio Cart, we went above and beyond to make it as editable as possible, so for the mad scientist sound designers and true enthusiasts, you have every control you could possibly want."

GameVerb is available for $49 at the Impact Soundworks store. Crossgrades are available for some customers.
