Divkid and Vostok Release Trace Interpolating Module

US Smooth waveform morphing and CV transitions in a compact 4HP module      22/08/24

Trace, a four-channel Interpolating Scanner, has been released By Divkid collaboration with Vostok Instruments.

This module revisits and enhances the Interpolating Scanning circuit originally introduced by Jürgen Haible in 1994 and later refined by Donald Tillman in 1999. The circuit, a hybrid between a signal selector and a crossfader, smoothly morphs between inputs as voltage control increases.

The Trace module introduces a custom, fine-tuned slope response that emphasizes smooth transitions between channels, particularly improving performance with external CV signals. This allows for a range of patching possibilities, from waveform morphing to audio-rate scanning, with plenty of applications.

Key Features:

  • Four Channels: Offers flexibility for both audio and CV signals.
  • DC-Coupled Inputs: Suitable for use with a variety of signals.
  • Custom Fading Slope: Enhances smooth transitions between inputs, especially in middle positions.
  • CV-Controlled Scanning: Includes onboard attenuation and inversion for modulation control.
  • Low Noise Analog VCA Circuits: Ensures clean signal processing.

Specifications:

  • Size: 4HP
  • Current Draw: +/-12V: 70mA, +5V: 0mA
  • Depth: 32mm (including power cable)
  • Input Impedance: 51k (Signal inputs), 100kOhm (Scan CV input)
  • Output Impedance: 1kohm

Trace is available now, retailing for £130 (including VAT) in the UK, €120 (excluding VAT) in the EU, and $130 (before sales tax) in the USA.
