Q: What Do The Volka Massaker Orchestra Perform With?

(Photo: Ivan Steiner )

The Volka Massaker Orchestra is an ensemble that performs improvised electronic dance music using , you guessed it - only Korg Volca synthesizers.

The group was founded in 2014 and is based in Switzerland. Their performances involve live analog sound constructions and improvisations with the compact Korg Volca synths as their sole instruments. Though we did see an Electribe in a couple of clips.

As their name suggests, the Volka Massaker Orchestra utilizes a "massacre" of Volca synths to play their creations - obviously that limits the patterns to one or two bar loops.

Their shows have been featured at events like The Great Sunday Night DISASTER Show (above), and other unusual venues - there's one performance that appears to be on the stairs at a bar. (See below)

The group members are: Daniel Wihler ( Alphatronic ), Annie Rüfenacht ( Aries Zaes ), Nicolas Kellner ( Digitalis ), Maru Rieben ( Bern is everywhere ), Franz Neff.

They are also hard to find, with their Youtube channel spelled Volca  not Volka - here's the link to save you time.
