Dymanics are the contours of the sound we emit, and dynamic processors give us the ability to sculpt whats outputted for all kinds of uses. In this video, DIVKID takes a deep dive on dynamics, demonstrating the use (and abuse) of dynamic treatment! Illustrating the techniques using the dynamics module from Dannysound, he shows the module as a compressor, expander, harmonic exciter, saturator or distortion, sub bass generator, EQ, envelope follower or a simple VCA. Here's what Ben has to say:
Throughout the video I'm using 2x Dynamics modules and the VU meters expander allowing for showing more concepts per patch, but you can apply these patches to a single module too.
The module can be used as a separate EQ and compressor which too, allowing you to EQ your side chain signal (like sidechain filters on compressors) or simply use a single Dynamics module like two independent modules.
With so much potential for this set of functions you'll find some no talking patches just exploring adding life to beats or the amp drive (lovely saturation) spread throughout the video as musical interludes.
It's an excellent video with plenty of inspiration from the vast range of sound sources. More videos from DIVKID on his youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1zIiKvJIi7aYl2N68pWF8g
