Universal Audio have introduced a range of new USB-C Audio interfaces offering a range of input options from 1 through to 4. VOLT 1 gives a single input with a single preamp which also has a Vintage mode - engaging circuitry designed around the sound of the classic 610 Tube preamp, and MIDI In  and Out, VOLT 2 has two inputs.

VOLT 176 (1 in, 2 outs) and VOLT 276 (2 in, 2 out )  and VOLT 476 (2 mic/line inputs, 2 line inputs and 4 outputs) add an extra  76 mode which is circuitry based on the classic 1176 analog compressor for additional classic tone with switchable VOC, GTR, FAST modes, you also get more metering and a desktop style layout (top panel)

The range also comes bundled with a suite of software:

  • Live 11 Lite
  • Melodyne Essential
  • Ampeg® SVT-VR Classic Bass Amp
  • LX480 Essentials
  • Virtual Drummer DEEP
  • Virtual Bassist DANDY
  • LABS (spiftire)

To keep them affordable, UA have gone with on board circuitry rather than offering DSP plug-in hosting and focussed on getting the sound into your recordings by utilizing their analog engineering chops.

The VOLT range starts at £120 (VOLT 1), to £320 for the VOLT 476.
