New Ferrofish Pulse 16 AD/DA Converters

US Added output options for sending CV to analogue and modular synths      11/12/20

Ferrofish have announced the release of three new Pulse 16 models to their range of AD/DA converters – the Pulse 16 CV, Pulse 16 MX CV, and the Pulse 16 DX CV. All three units offer DC-coupling on all 16 analogue outputs, allowing for control voltages (CV) to be sent to analogue and modular synthesizers, such as the popular ranges from Eurorack and the 5U Moog/MOTM/ format. Here's the details in their own words...

When used with an ADAT, MADI or Dante-equipped audio interface, the Pulse 16 CV Series can be used for controlling common modular synth parameters such as oscillators, filters, envelopes and LFOs – all straight from a DAW such as Bitwig, Ableton Live or Reason, along with other CV-outputting software packages like Native Instrument's Reaktor and Cycling 74's Max/MSP.
Up to 16 channels of audio can also be recorded back in via the Pulse 16 CV's high-quality analogue inputs, providing a flexible and comprehensive converter for any audio application that requires DC-coupled outputs.
Analogue <> ADAT <> MADI <> Dante
The Pulse 16 CV Series offers three different flavours for musicians and producers working with analogue hardware – the Pulse 16 CV (ADAT), the Pulse 16 MX CV (ADAT and MADI), and the Pulse 16 DX CV (ADAT, MADI and Dante).
All three devices feature high-quality, transparent AD/DA, with 16 analogue inputs and 16 analogue outputs alongside the various digital I/O options.
Each unit features eight ADAT TOSLINK connectors for connecting with a wide range of audio interfaces, with MADI I/O offered on the Pulse 16 MX CV and DX CV via an SFP module.
The flagship Pulse 16 DX CV also features two RJ45 connectors for connecting to any existing Dante network, as well as functioning as a format converter between MADI and Dante - for example, adding 16 analogue channels to an incoming MADI stream, then routing the combined stream on to a Dante network.
Whether working in 48 kHz, 96 kHz or 192 kHz sample rates, the Ferrofish Pulse16 MX CV and DX CV can deliver a full complement of the highest quality 16 analogue I/O channels, whilst the ADAT-only Pulse 16 CV operates up to 96 kHz.

Easy Level Management & Front Panel Control
Comprehensive front panel controls can be found on all three devices, with two TFT displays providing level information for all 32 channels at a glance.
Each channel can be adjusted in 1 dB increments, and multiple channels can be adjusted simultaneously as stereo pairs, or in groups of 4, 8 and 16.

RemoteFish - Software Control
The Pulse 16 CV Series can also be controlled remotely via Ferrofish's RemoteFish software. Available as a free download from the Ferrofish website, RemoteFish provides full control from a Mac or PC via MIDI, MIDI over MADI (Pulse 16 MX CV and DX CV only), or via Dante (DX CV only).
All features can be accessed directly from the RemoteFish GUI, including input and output gains, channel routing, device status and settings, as well as the saving and loading of presets.
Multiple units can also be used together from the within the same software window, with each unit easily identifiable via the Serial number on the left-hand side of the software interface.
