New Synth From Former Squarp Man

Norand is a new French company specializing in the design of analog synthesizer and module. Initiated by Mathieu Föhlich, former Squarp Instruments product engineer, Norand has been developing its first product since 2018 and launches it this winter - the Norand Mono, a small analog synth with powerful modulation and sequencing. Here's the details direct from the company...

A new modern day analog synthesizer
As its name suggest, Mono is a monophonic synthesizer with a lot of performance oriented digital features. At the heart of this small box, an all-analog signal path with uniquely designed circuit blocks.
With Mono, every single synthesis parameters have his own modulators wich provide a wide sound palette. You can also explore the depth of the synthesis engine with powerful randomizing features.

Synthesis blocks
From soothing detuned sinewave to heavly modulated sawtooth, Mono's sound source is very versatile and full of character. It has 2 analog oscillators with continiously variable waveform, thru-zero frequency modulation, fine grain detune and hard sync.

The filter block was designed with an emphasis on sound-character and originality, mono filter let you sculpts the oscillators output in every way possible. Mono's filter allows stable self oscillation at maximum resonance and it is precisely tuned like the oscillators. Like the oscillators waveform, its output is also continuously variable between BP, LP, and HP. A unique filter for a unique synthesizer.

A world of modulation
Mono introduces contextual modulation : a unique modulation system that gives you full control over every parameters. Each have their own envelope and audio-frequency modulator. By simply touching a knob to select the underlying parameter, unleash Mono's full creative potential.
X-Modulators are not simple basic LFOs, you can set them at audio rate to get FM modulation on any parameters, with the touch of a knob.

Feature-rich sequencer
From simple note sequence to complex ratcheted phrase with parameter automation, Mono sequencer allows the user to sequencer everything step by step without limitations.

The sequencer was designed to give musicans a way to fully customize sequences by recording automation on any desired parameters. The powerful clocking system makes mono extremely versatile, wether you are in the studio, in live situation or even in DJ sets.

Mod Note mode replace keyboard notes by user defined timbre. It allow users to create up to 40 custom temporary patch or timbre per projects to be played and recorded.

This small synth offer randomizing features to assist the musician creative process. There are differents randomize options : randomize page, step, parameter, accent, slide, and Mod Note.

Never restrain your creativity by fear of loosing previous work : Mono's undo-redo allows for up to 1024 actions to be Undoed. Thus, with his 1GB of internal flash Memory, Mono stores 32 projects, each with 64 patterns.

  • All analog synthesis engine
  • Two continuously variable waveform VCO
  • Thru-Zero Frequency Modulation
  • 3-pole state-variable filter
  • 13 dedicated AD envelopes
  • 20 multi-mode dedicated modulators
  • 2048 pattern with patch memory
  • Automation : 3200 events per pattern
