Moog today followed up the "leak" of the Moog One product details last week with a 20 minute docu/presentation featuring a stellar cast:
Jeff Bhasker, Suzanne Ciani, Chick Corea, Mike Dean, Robert Glasper, Dick Hyman, Dev Hynes, Mark Mothersbaugh, Mark Ronson, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Dr. Lonnie Smith, and Paris Strother.
For those of you who don't know what the Moog One is, its the final realization of a new polyphonic instrument with its DNA in the Polymoog but with plenty of new innovation - indeed the new voice structure features patent-pending technology. Oh and its not trying to be a budget synth - not at all. But as many people have pointed out, a single voice for $500-1000 is not uncommon, so 16, three OSC voices for $7k+ is actually not unreasonable, its just that many of us can't afford that, which is presumably why there are so many shirty commenters on the subject.
During the 1970s grainy summer of love styled video titled "A Meditation On Listening", we hear a number of sounds and riffs from the Moog One, which does sound nice, with the general vibe of the video seeming to suggest that the Moog One will assist you in achieving some kind of higher musical consciousness. Hmm, not sure about that, but we'd love to try one.
Oh and if you are quick, there's a live stream of a Moog One build happening right now.
But failing that, there will be a First Moog One Livestream from the factory later today sign up for notifications right here, where I think we'll be getting some more facts and figures - the posterframe indicates the arch boffin and chief architect Amos Gaynes is going to be involved, so it should be really good.
