Thanks Jason for the tip. I was wondering how to kill the hold note when changing octaves. Awesome. Works great!

This is a great accompaniment to my portable laptop setup. As a standalone, the synth sounds great. You can also plug in external audio and use the filters and effects on the unit. All knobs, sliders and buttons transmit MIDI messages, so this guy is great for controlling soth synths. Great overall unit, highly recommended!

Regarding the stuck notes -- there is a note hold feature when changing octaves. You can disable this in global settings. I find the feature helpful when tweaking sounds, so I leave it on.

Well, it's got great sounds, especially for the price. V/A can do some really nice leads, but I try to stick to my Juno 106 for bass. Also can get some surprisingly complex sounds out of it. I've had a few problems with notes getting stuck, and occasionally the pitch will drift on semitone down when I first turn it on, but this isn't too much of a problem. It's a good first synth, but not a good "only" synth, if you're doing heavy electronic influenced music. I'd say it would fit perfectly in a studio with a rompler for acoustic sounds, one R/A for a solid bottom end and thick sounds, one "alternative" synth(like a transwave or wavetable or FM) and 2 v/a that compliment each other. Anyway, back to the review...very easy and intuitive hands-on control. This is the biggest feature that makes it worth buying over the A-station.

I'm a little confused as to why Novation would put out the KS4 for the same price so soon after releasing the K, but oh well.

Would go well with...

The K-station is a great little synth that IMHO sounds bigger than it's Nova brother.

It's small, portable ,light and packs a mean sound. this is true analog emulation. Luckily I got mine for 560$ new from Guitar Center.

If you like monster leads, the best basses in the Va world and ghostly strings, this is the synth for you.
