The QY8 was brought out as a cut down version of the QY20 walkstation, originally at £250. Unfortunately, it is probably a bit too cut down, with only twelve buttons to control the whole thing. Consequently, trying to use it is similar to trying to play an electronic game, with every action requiring several button pushes. Possibly due to poor sales the price was later slashed to £99. I bought mine to use as an accompaniment unit to a synth, but it is quite difficult to use while playing, due to the amount of button pushing required. Good points are the low cost, small size, and style programming, which has far more contempary styles than most home keyboards. Comments About the Sounds: On their own the sounds are preety poor. They are not as good as the latest Yamaha home keyboards e.g. PSR230 |
