4. Gibson Gary Moore Signature Les Paul
Our first thought when we saw this guitar unveiled at MusikMesse in Frankfurt this year was "hubba, hubba" - that thought still remains with us.
The memory of Gary Moore also remains with us, after his death in 2011, and this guitar is a great testament to his life and legacy.
Gibson carefully took their time in releasing this tribute to the great man, and the attention to detail comes right down to the mismatched volume and tone knobs.
The story goes that guitarists would switch tone or volume controls with each other as a sign of mutual respect after a gig, or a jam, and there must have been a few players queueing up to switch with Gary Moore.
Contrary to common assumption, this guitar isn't based on the guitar given to Gary by Peter Green, this guitar is actually based on a guitar Gary had warmed to in his later years.
A big old beautiful mahogany body, 50's profile mahogany neck, Burstbucker pickups, and one of prettiest finishes you'll ever see on a guitar. The Gibson Gary Moore Signature Les Paul comes in at number four in the SonicState Gear of the Year Awards guitar category.
