i used the 16plus model years b4,the sound was fat and warm,u can't go wrong for the ensoniq samplers,i think its also for hip hop,no big problems.only trick is to use it w/ a voltage regulator/stabilizer/line filter as possible as u could,'coz the power component and design on ensoniq products always got problems, from the old days esq1 'til the latest careful.

The EPS is "off the hook" for the price! I purchased mine 2 years ago as a beginner board (with no owner's guide) and i have learned some of it's operations by tinkering with it.

Does anyone have/ or know where i can get an owner's manual for a decent price? please e-mail me if you have any info.

It's quite worth getting. Only thing the 16+ adds is better SCSI, flash ROM, 16 bit samples, and effects. It's got the same basic architecture, and the same amount of RAM. It's still quite useable. It's not the most reliable thing in the world (watch out for the disk drive...) but it's a lot better than the ASR-10.

It may be old but you've really got nothing to fear as long as it's been well cared for, and the keyboard problem has been taken care of (the 16+ has the same problem...)

and by the way the EPS samples at 13 bit, not 12.

Just wanted to quickly comment that the specifications are wrong....

Thats why it rocks and gives you that evil sound used on such albums as WuTang Clan-"16 Chambers" and Peanut Butter Wolf - "My Vinyl Weighs a Ton"!

It's nothing like the EPS people compliment me all the time on how they can't believe that it's all I use, with the famous standard Akai MPC on the market people are quick to grab one of them because everybody uses them, but not me I'm EPS for life although I'm going thru problems with one of my fuses constantly blowing on the inside. If any of you know what I can do to stop this problem e-mail me!
