Blue Giant: Bit-Accurate Novation Supernova II

Usual Suspects do it again   08-Sep-26

Off the back of their Access Virus and JP-8000 emulation (amongst others) Usual Suspects are back with a new Bit-Accurate synth! Their Novation Supernova II is still in beta, but sounds fantastic, as this video goes to show. In the video we see 4 instances running, with each instance running 9 DSPs; 8x DSP56362 and 1x DSP56303 - it is 8 part multi-timbral, offering 4 stereo outputs and 24 voices, expandable to 48. The synth is available to download in their Discord now.

We are The Usual Suspects, a dedicated group of people who are currently Reverse Engineering and Emulating various DSP processors that have been used in the design and implementation of digital musical instruments and effects processors over the years.

We began with the Motorola DSP563XX series of processors, which were used in many virtual analogue synthesizers and other musical gear that was released after around the mid 90s, such as Access Virus A, B, C, TI / Clavia Nord Lead 2X, 3, Modular / Waldorf Q, Microwave II / Novation Supernova, Nova and many others.

We have since broadened our horizons and are branching out to research and realize emulations of many other DSP processing platforms, whether they are well-known or maybe even some that are bespoke and/or custom in nature.

It seems like emulation in synths is taking off...

Find their Discord channel here - it runs as a VST2, VST3, AU, LV2 and CLAP on macOS (native Apple Silicon + Intel), Linux and Windows.
