Really cheap synth with analog filter with resonance! Cool! Presets are not good, maybe the pianos and strings could be usefull. You have to edit your own patches and then it really shines!!! Real analog filter,31 waveforms, 2 ADSR and good chorus. The release of it's envelopes is probably the best thing in this synth! Though it doesn't have modulation possibilities other than vibrato. All in all a very cheap synth (125 euro),with good filter and for the music i make (ambient-atmospheric electronica) produces sounds with a certain character that you don't find in nowdays synths.

Bought one of these on Ebay a few years ago. I love it, it's nearest cousin is the Korg Poly 800 due to its single filter. Useful re-triggering effects can be had with legato playing. "Upper Tone" has 31 waves, some change tone over time. The problem with the HZ600 is memory. It's volatile, unless you can find a rare-as-hen's-teeth RAM card - which I did - and it then becomes ALMOST an 8-note analogue polysynth with resonance AND presets! For £25! Alright it ain't no Jupiter-8 but I'll never own of them so who cares! It does square & saw waves, it does envelope & filter sweeps & MIDI too!

Great! Goes plink, goes plunk. Mess around with it and you can make it go plinkety-plunk or even weeeeeee! AND it says CASIO in biiig white letters - nice.

Seriously though, whilst it's probably more use as a spare cricket bat for the pro user, it does make some cool sounds, it's easy to program and it's fun. Most of all - it's very cheap. On a sound for £££ basis, it's better than many others.

CASIO rules!
