Synthfest 2018: Ian Boddy - Resonant Garden and Din Records

US We had a nice chat      08/10/18

Ian Boddy has been creating music using modular synthesizers since the 1970s. Starting out on the EMS VCS3 and Revox tape machines in Newcastle, he now performs, writes and runs Din Records which has over 60 releases in its catalogue.

Ian brought along a Folktek Resonant Garden to show - its a truly unique instrument which has multiple guitar strings, piezo pickups and on board DSP. Ian showed us a bit of what it can do and we also talked about his DIn label and the recent Tone Science sub label. This is dedicated to electronic music created on modular systems, and features amn impressive array of contributors.

We also talked a little more about his own creative output and working methods. A very interesting chap.
