A classic remake in a smaller package. This was the first of Korg’s analogue re-boots, the next being the ARP Odyssey and the MS20 Desktop.
Price wise this sits nicely between the Phenol and the Microbrute. And if you like the classic sound of the MS20 then this is surely a must have.
The only problem being that the Korg talks a different control voltage language to most Eurorack modules to control the pitch of the oscillators. The MS20s Hz/V is different to most Eurorack V/Oct scaling. So if you do decide to expand, you may need an additional convertor such as the Jedonian - see review). But you can still modulate and control using other control voltages.
Another option is to look into the MS-20 Desktop kit - which we also reviewed and gives you both V/Oct and Hz/V standards - more cash but a lovely thing.
The MS-20 is a classic instrument though and not without reason. Capable of some amazing sounds.
