First synth I ever owned, bought brand new in Hollywood in 1975 for right around $1K. Absolutely primitive by today standards, but at that time, the quick presets, the wind white noise, random note gen, the quick octave change, and ability to tweak the envelope slightly made it an attractive performance solo board. A lot quicker to mod on stage than a minimoog or odyssey. Keys are small, action is too plastic. Still have it. Still works. Still use it once in awhile for gigs. Deserves a 5 just for the bloody survivability of the thing.

My dad bought it for me at a flea-market for €10. (about $5)!!! I allready owned a YAMAHA DJX but this was my first REAL (analogue) synth. Finaly... I've got the original 'wind' effect at hand... Easy enough to get an OXYGENE intro by just one lever. Just Love the portamento using the fuzz-guitars!

I compose all sorts of music including sounscapes and minimalist electro. i was in a vintage shop tody and saw a SH-2000 and thought, "Ooohh, there's fun..." i giggled with glee from the sounds it released and then started tweaking away. Definitely still relevent to todays music but hard to control. Live use - not so good. A samplers wet-analogue dream. The guy tried to sell it to me for $750 and I just couldn't agree with him.

i have the "ripped off from moog" filter version, and can say that the resonance comes pretty close. i also own a micromoog for comparison. these preset monos can´t really be compared, even if they´re all wannabie carbon copies of the arp soloist. the sh2000 excels in random burbles and dated-sounding (meant as a compliment) sub-stockhausen earcandy, and its expressiveness is a plus (aftertouch/growl/vibrato/bend fx). if you ever need to rescore "forbidden planet"... well how often do you really need these sounds, but still there is sth endearing about it. definitely a good start for roland, and one of the most oldschool sounding synths i ever played. i mean, oooold....
