MESSE: Evolution's New Creation

US Things are getting smaller...      26/03/02

UK company Evolution are known for their nifty and budget-friendly MIDI keyboards; their new USB range has created a bit of a stir, so I thought I'd wander along to their stand and have a peek. Sure enough, proudly displayed was a rack of silver keyboards - the new 'contoller' versions (meaning they have knobs as well as the usual keys, mod/pitch wheels and buttons) of the USB range. There's a 61-key/16-knob; 49-key/12-knob, and a compact 25-key/8-knob version.

Nice enough they are too, but my eye was caught by a tiny little box hiding near a computer.

The UC-16, for it was that, is a cute-as-you-like USB/MIDI contoller with 16 knobs; numeric keypad; 25 memories (with 4 'fast-access' buttons), and control/channel asigners.

An extremely enthusiastic sales-Munchkin explained it was a pre-production model and they were changing the pots because the "knobs were too stiff".. oooerr! So, by the time you get your hands on it, the knobs won't be quite so hard (understandable really, all that time).
I wonder if he kept it up for the whole show?
