We saw this first at Musik Messe earlier this year, and I for one was pretty impressed. Usually we see DJ control surfaces linked to the host computer for DJ setups, but Stanton have created the SCS.4DJ to break free of that tether.

This has an embedded OS (linux based) running the application required to allow you to spin tunes stored on external USB thumb drives or discs (x4). With all the usual DJ functions and effects included its got 3 band kill EQ and a selection of realtime effects - including beat slice. You can record your mix to an external USB device for later replay as a WAV file. There's also a USB port for Host/unit connection so if you wish, you can use the SCS.4DJ in controller mode with external software.

In the UK Focusrite/Novation are now distributing , priced at just under £500
