LNDSXPO 2024: Manifold Research Centre - Mad Magnet Matrix

US The Map Is Not The Territoire      17/03/24

At The London Synth and Pedal Expo, Aleks from Signal Sounds* showcased a unique matrix mixer called The Map Is Not The Territoire by Manifold Research Centre. This matrix mixer stands out from others as it utilizes magnets to make connections between inputs and outputs, allowing for a very playable and interactive interface.

By placing magnets on the device, users can create paths for the signals. The device can be used to sum and mult signals, as well as interface with other devices in a playful manner, making it a fun tool for sound manipulation.

Alex explained that the device can be used for both audio and CV signals, allowing for various modulation possibilities. The aesthetic of the device matches well with other instrument gear, and the use of etched PCBs as the fascia adds a unique and visually appealing touch.

The device is available exclusively through Signal Sounds and Manifold Research Centre for £439
