Martin Stimming is a German music producer who is passionate about sharing his knowledge. In this video he talks about his love for the first ever drum machine he owned; the Korg Elecribe ER-1, which was released in 1999! He demonstrates some features and tricks of the machine, with the sample and hold, audio input and sequencer. It's often referred to as a modern classic, and rightly so - if you're making electro, techno, or lo-fi  style music - it will fit right into the heart of your setup. 

It's also been covered by AudioPilz on his Better Gear series - looking at replacing the PCM sound which Stimming recommends avoiding:

 

It can also be used as a MIDI sequencer, sending notes to synths from the drum pads - as demonstrated here by someone called midierror:
