The Story Of The Roland Juno DCO

US The birth of digitally controlled oscillators      10/12/21

A while back, we reported on a impressive in-depth look at the design and operation of the Juno Oscillators by stargirl. For those who want more of an overview, this video is just for you - a look at the history of the Juno series and it's digitally controlled oscillator by Johnny Morgan.

Johnny explains why this DCO design was implemented, going over a range of synths available at the time which used similar oscillators - then going on to cover the later Alpha series. The Juno synths from Roland are an iconic range of synths, in terms of both of both sound and look - being replicated in numerous software and hardware forms.
