Building A Subharmonic Synth In Reaktor

US Moog Subharmonium and Mixturtrautonium as inspiration      03/10/21

Have you ever wanted make a subharmonic synthesizer like the Moog Subharmonium or Mixturtrautonium in Reaktor? Simon Hutchinson has created just the tutorial for you; with a superbly explained tutorial on doing just that. In the video, he builds the patch from scratch - walking you through making a set of subharmonic oscillators and an envelope filter akin to the Moog Subharmonicon.

Here's an explanation of Subharmonics in his own words:

Subharmonics are frequencies that are whole-number divisions of a given frequency (in contrast to harmonics, which are whole number multiples of a frequency). While harmonics naturally occur as part of the timbre of a sound, subharmonics, when introduced, sound like distinct pitches, allowing you to create chords of harmonically-related notes.

Simon also offers a playlist of Reaktor Tutorials as well as a playlist on the fundamentals of Synthesis.
