You Suck At Producing (aka Underbelly) has numerous videos and accompanying project files for a number of production and melodic techniques. In his latest video, he shows how he adds energy to drums using Ableton live - the principles being applicable to all daws. He goes through making drum parts for various sections of a track, adding some excellent advice for how and why to make such changes.
