The Akai APC40 performance controller for Ableton has already gathered many devotees - little wonder, really, as it lets you get at the power of Ableton Live with a dedicated smorgasbord of hardware controls.

So we were interested when Akai Professional's product guru Andy Mac offered to show us some of the techniques he's using with the APC40 for live DJ work.

If you're interested in going out live and doing urban sets, or electro, house, dance, remix mash-ups, etc. you might find these two pieces pretty interesting, as Andy shows us that with just a little prep work on your set, the APC40/Ableton Live combo can give you some pretty powerful capabilities.

This is the first of two technique videos - enjoy!
