Developer Alexander Wiltschko has released Octave Lite, a free application that turns an iPhone into a basic real-time spectrum analyzer. 

To Use:

• SINGLE TAP to see the peak frequency and note
• DOUBLE TAP to pause the graph
• TAP AND HOLD to bring up a cursor that lets you analyze any band
