SNAMM03: Echo's PCMCIA Indigo Range Expands
Indigo: a card for every occaision

The Indigo PCMCIA hi resolution D to A card found a niche for mobile high quality playback. Designed for laptop use, it leaves the your USB or FireWire ports untouched (if you have them) and enables Hi-resolution audio to be used with the minimum of fuss. (See original story + video) Here at Summer NAMM, Echo have introduced two more models. The Indigo DJ has two independent stereo 1/8 inch analog outputs; one for setting up your cue mix on a pair of headphones, and the other for the house mix. Each output features 24-bit/96kHz converters for the quality you deserve. Also included is a 6 foot audio cable for RCA or 1/4 inch connections. A unique feature of both the the Indigo DJ and IO is the use of "virtual" outputs. Indigo appears to software as if it has eight separate outputs, which are digitally mixed down to the physical outputs using Indigo's "console" software and its on-board DSP. This makes Indigo compatible with all popular multi-track software. And, with Echo's "multi-client" drivers, more than one application (such as an editor and a software synth) can be playing back through Indigo DJ at the same time. The Indigo DJ ships mid August at $179 Next up is the Indigo I/O, featuring an input as well as an output, this one is ideal for the mobile musician - just pop it in your laptop and connect sound sources to the minijack input. It has full duplex for recording/playback and should keep many a musician happy when there's nothing on the hotel TV. Also included is a 6 foot audio cable for RCA or 1/4 inch connections. Features
