The DMT-8vl is a digital 8 track that Fostex discontinued in order to make the cheaper, more appealing FD4 and FD8 (which don't have internal hard disks). Full featured analog mixer makes anyone who is used to a Tascam tape recorder feel right at home; it has 2 effect sends/stereo returns. There are the great features of digital recording like cut, paste, MIDI clock and device ID, and noiseless bouncing of tracks. This is a great digital 8 for the price range of $500-600 used.

Good Points Digital editing: cutting and pasting, instant access to different songs or locate points. MIDI: time of song can be displayed as bar/beat/tempo, and recording can sync to device ID or MIDI clock. A hard disk is included, and uncompressed, 16 bit digital sound is a big step up from tapes. Bad Points No mid eq on each track. Also, record at a medium level on the display to leave yourself a little headroom. |
