Great value for money! This tiny synth sounds pretty well! You've got full XG compatility, with 3 DSP and good effects, for only a part of the cost of another XG module as the MU90! I think that the better sounds are those related to dance and techno; acoustic are not as good (especially brass), but overall better than you could ever expect from as little money and size. Percussion sounds are superb, and it has midi and serial connectors. It even has a two-octave micro-keyboard made of rubber keys, which transmits via midi-out. Some people said that this keyboard is useless for playing, but what other module (even hig-priced) has a keyboard built-in? It's always better than the typical preview button. Now the flaws: The screen should be backlit, but it isn't, probably to save batteries (yes, it can work with batteries!), and the TG300B mode can be only accessed trough sysex. It's a pity because this mode is real value (more than 500 sounds and 10 drum kits), and sysex is a shit to use (for not to mention that you have to use a computer). But overall, it's really a beast!! Nothing to envy to the other professional XG range of products from Yamaha, and at a fraction of the price.
