The WS-1 was pretty good for it's time, small display, and the strings were FAT,the kanoun(the ssample had alot of treble which cut through when playing LIVE!) and ney sounds were good but over all the other sounds really stank, the bass, piano and regular drum kits were terrible a cheap Casio sounded better, and the Oriental drums were a little better but the overall keyboard sound is very muffeled. My favorite sounds were the flute, kanoun, strings (DOUBLED) and accordian(DOUBLED. Although the keyboard had speakers to play at any cocktail hour,it was very light to travel which was a plus.

I had one of these inherited when I took over a studio. Like all GEM stuff it went wrong very quickly. Not as good as any other similar workstation and impossible to sell on. If you are offered one that works for free, think about accepting it. You will have to get rid of it one day.
