Ludovic, you had a broken unit ! WHile the sustain is not 'unlimited' should go more than your expereince. Also the rotary selector controls can get damaged - changing presets as you describe, or worse, causing out of tune and non-midi-slectable preset scenario. I got replacement controls (BCD rotary encoders) and it all honky-dory.
I find the presets more immediately useful than the stock ones on my Roland JV1010 !

I picked the Proformance Piano Module up on ebay for $ 45.00 for no other reason than I wanted one years ago and was curious how it compares to my Korg SP200 and a Yamaha S03. Personally I think its cleaner than both of them in the middle. My live gig is solo piano and vocals where I use a piano patch 90% of the time. I must say that patch 12 is great for solo jazz or rock. Sure it isn't the best piano sound out there but for the money I couldn't best more satisfied.

This is a ok piano modul, concerning the price. But only a few good patches, not especially up to date, but have some warmth and charm over the sound. Picked it up for around 80 $. Have a korg N5ex with a more complex piano sound, but lack the warmth of this small module.

I got the piano module, there are some warm muffly pianos there. Personally don't like the brighter ones. I actually prefer some of the pianos here to my JV880 pianos (too bright). i got it for $85 Canadian. nice little addition to my setup.
