I battled ruthlessly on e_bay to win my AXXE..and it was worth every second spent on_line. The low end on the synth makes it every bit the bass module, switch it to mid octive and your embarking on roads taken by folks like Boards of Canada and RDJ. One hint, apply compression -sounds like the 70s.

Mine`s a Mk1, and it ain`t going nowheres!. The wooden endcheeked, Black/gold MK1 has the Moogy filter from the Pro-Solist and this combined with the classic ARP VCO creates the smoothest of leads and the chunkiest of 1-VCO basses. acts as a reliable (if short) keyboard controller for the 2600 whilst providing a fourth VCO and 2nd filter via its excellent interfacing. buy a Mk2 (ARP Filter) to complement it and have a complex and varied 2-kbd monosynth which costs far less than an Odyssey.

i purchased the arp axxe in 1982 because for 700.00 it was all i could aford. I kept it in my rig for many years , for sexy sci fi noises , rises, fallouts random jibber jabber, scottland yard police speaker overloading bass, and many many silly sounds, the arp axxe payed me back every time i played live. most of my old recordings from 1983 thru 1985 have some arp axxe. These old tunes bring back my urge to play with a good analog synth. the axxe is real and cant really be reproduced by a sampler. Knobs are good and one day will return with much force. The arp axxe is a durible strong structured mono phonic 49 note key board that wont let you down ,unless you drop a mike on the keyboard and broke one key. nothing two part epoxy couldnt fix. also my arp duzz not like to play out side at night when the temp. drops below 60 f.

The ARP Axxe is my first synth, and it is amazing! It does great, funky bass & clavinet lines, and well as classic lead lines. Highly recommended for newcomers. There is even a book, Lessons in Electronic Music, which teaches the basics of analog synthesis using the Axxe. ARP sounds are everywhere-- dig Herbie Hancock's Headhunters album, espicially.
