Peavey's latest range of IPR power amps use D Class amplifier designs to achieve extraordinary power to weight (and cost) ratios. The new IPR 6000 gives you a 6k ouput (2x3K into 2ohms) and weighs in at 3.5KG. Using the new technologies and efficient design, these amps can get to a 98% efficiency - resulting in massive savings in heat generation and also transportation costs. Massive Roadies
There's an enduring image of large sweaty, bearded fellows humping giant impossibly large flight cases with hugely heavy amplifiers in for driving these arena size PA systems. Nowadays, many touring systems use Class D (digital power amps) to save on transportation costs. Peavey's new range brings that technology into the reach of those with slimmer frames and pockets. These new amps between 3.5 and 4KG, making them weigh less than many rack effects. We let Virgil Lund, explain the stuff thats going on under the hood of these new amps.
