Access have anounced plans to create new virtual synthesizers for the TC POWERCORE. Apparently the DSP chips used in the Virus closely match the ones used in the Powercore so making the coding of the new plug-in a simpler task than a ground up re-write. “With this announcement we would like to send a clear signal to the market. DSP-platforms such as TC PowerCore are very viable concepts and we will strongly support them!“ says Christoph Kemper, CEO of ACCESS. ACCESS is in the process of reviewing the TC PowerCore platform at the moment, detailed product plans will be announced at a later point. A release date has not been scheduled yet. Not to be left out, Emagic will turn Logic Platinum into an even more powerful system by developing PowerCore versions for the most demanding of the over 50 included native Logic Plug-Ins. Utilizing TC PowerCore’s vast DSP power will free up precious CPU resources for other native tasks, providing the user with even more possibilities. WALDORF and SONY were showing their POWERCORE Plug-Ins at the TC|Works stand. We saw a pre-release version of Waldorf’s D-Coder which goes beyond classic Vocoder concepts by providing an integrated synthesizer as tone generator. This way no external carrier signal is required to make the vocoding effect audible. D-Coder is based on the synthesis and DSP technology used in the popular Waldorf Q and MicroQ synthesizers, now made accessible to TC PowerCore users from inside any VST-compatible sequencer. The Sony Oxford Plug-In is based on the EQ processing algorithms for the top end OFX-R3 and DMX-R100 consoles, that offers previously unavailable on-board equalization power in a Digital Audio Work Station. The Sony plug-in for PowerCore will achieve the same unparalleled performance as the version for Pro Tools or the consoles, thanks to the “double precision” processing capability of the PowerCore DSP chip throughout and significantly for both audio processing and coefficient generation, ensuring that the quality of this EQ plug-in is significantly better than any other. This is the first in a new range of plug-ins designed to offer the acclaimed sound of Sony’s digital recording consoles to users of computer-based digital audio editing systems and workstations.
