We caught up with Taylor from Eclipsed Sounds, a third-party developer for Dreamtonics' VStudio. VStudio is a vocal synthesizer that performs input melodies and lyrics in studio-quality, which Taylor demonstrated using the software's instant mode feature. Eclipsed Sounds focuses on providing professional-grade singers, including a soprano and bass vocalist already available on the market, with a tenor vocalist set to debut later in the year. Sonic State was treated to a beta test of the voice database for the tenor vocalist, which Taylor showed off using the voice database's Solaria, named after an astrological term to represent the mid-range of Eclipsed Sounds' lineup.
The vocal synthesizer generates pitch transitions and stylistic curves that apply the original singer's style from which it was sampled. Producers have the ability to edit the pitch, pronunciation, and length of each consonant and vowel, giving them full control over the production's voice. Eclipsed Sounds' Solaria voice database provides even greater versatility, with features exclusive to the synthesizer VStudio Pro, allowing for even more parameterized automation.
