If you've been going to concerts for a while, you may have noticed the size & shape of PA systems has been changing quite considerably over the years. Early on you could expect to see a huge pile of boxes either side of the stage, from gargantuan bass bins you could stick your head in (not advised ;-) though mid-range cabs, to tiny tweeter boxes perched precariously on the top. These gave way to smaller flown rigs, single box systems, and you may have heard of 'point-source' and 'line array' based technologies.

New kid on the block in terms of speaker tech is the Adaptive Array, championed by players such as EAW, who see the technology allowing much greater flexibility and capability for future PA systems.

But what does it mean?
