Bristronica 23: TINRS Brinta - Granular Sampler

At Machina Bristronica 2023, we caught up with Stijn from This Is Not Rocket Science to get the lowdown on their latest creation, Brinta. This innovative unit is a granular loop sampler effect playback device that offers a unique take on sound manipulation. Brinta can live sample incoming audio, transforming it into granular effects on the fly, or it can record audio loops into its ring buffer for playback. Stijn demonstrated how the playback cursor slowly traverses the ring, allowing users to control the playback direction and speed. The unit also visualizes audio content with different colors, making it easy to see and manipulate various frequency ranges. With its built-in flash storage and quick sample switching capabilities, Brinta promises to be a valuable tool for live performers, enabling them to create dynamic, ever-evolving soundscapes.

Priced at 300 euros, Brinta offers an intriguing option for those looking to explore new sonic territories.

Stijn mentioned that Brinta has already been available for sale for about two weeks, starting from the Dutch Modular Fest announcement. Although the exact conversion to UK pounds was humorously estimated at "9 million," the unit is priced for the unique features it brings to the table.
