UVI has released Opal, which they describe as a groundbreaking emulation of the iconic optical compressor, including stunningly accurate models of 7 different units.
A spokesperson told us, "Leveraging advanced techniques our researchers were able to create their own innovative physical model, delivering unparalleled accuracy and faithful representation of these iconic compressors and the T4 optical cells within. Opal includes models of seven units, borrowed from studios around the world, each offering a unique dynamic profile. In addition, users will find a slew of both handy and modern features including external sidechain, variable responsiveness, frequency response correction, tube drive, and more."
Opal is also available in The Effects Bundle, Which UVI describes as a value-packed collection including their entire effects line; Shade, Plate, Sparkverb, Dual Delay X, Relayer, Rotary, Phasor, Thorus, Drum Replacer, and the all-new Opal. A spoksepesron told us, "Designed to excite and empower, UVI effects are crafted to the highest standards, delivering versatile, high-quality sound shaping tools powered by advanced DSP."
Opal and The Effects Bundle are compatible with current versions of all major DAWs on both Mac and Windows platforms (VST, VST3, AU, and AAX). A single license includes 3 activations that can be used on any combination of individual computer systems or iLok keys.
