The Mix Challenge audio community is celebrating its ninth anniversary, spanning nine years with over over 90 mixing challenges (currently at MC092) and 70 songwriting competitions (currently at SWC070).
The Mix Challenge started in 2014 on KVR Audio, and became fully independent in 2017. It offers monthly recurring mixing and songwriting competitions that you can freely join, with the core concepts of "learn by doing" and "just make music".
Part of the learning aspect of this small community is offering participants the chance to hone their skills and engage in experimentation without jeopardizing paid commission jobs in the real world. A bonus incentive is to have the chance to win music software licenses.
Some words from the organizer, Roland Löhlbach:
The last 9 years have been quite an experience. I can only reiterate my gratitude to all who have been (and still are) part of this community. From our song providers, to license sponsors, the monthly participants, all the very generous patrons, to all those that go the extra mile and spread the word about this community, cross-community support and collaboration, etc.
Without you, your help and words of encouragement, I don't know where the community would be today. So please keep up the good work, reach out, share knowledge, interact. Thank you ever so much.
The following challenges are currently open to compete in:
Mix Challenge 092: have the opportunity to work on a Folk Rock (Bluegrass) production.
Deadline: June 21st.
Songwriting Competition 070: the theme is "Arts and Crafts". Create a song in any music genre you feel like, fitting to the given premise.
Deadline: June 24th.
