Superbooth 2023: Elta Music - Solar 42

US Microtonal polyphonic ambient machine      13/05/23

At Superbooth 2023, we spoke to Szabo from Elta Music about Solar 42. This ambient drone machine consists of six drone voices with two added VCOs. The Solar 42 comes with a brand new touch-responsive keyboard with built-in arpeggiator, portamento, vibrato, and quantizers that can be disabled to edge the synth into the microtonal world. The mixer has gain potentiometers for all the voices and the voices can be freely panned from left to right. The Solar 42 also includes a stereo VCF, stereo effect processor, and different algorithms including reverb and delay. The solar synth is semi-modular, has voltage inputs, and no presets. The solar synth is expected to be in production this summer, and its retail price is estimated at $1500.

The Solar 42 is expected to be available in stores from May onwards.
