Roland have just announced their new SH-4D, a Tabletop Synthesizer  with 60 voices,  four part synth, one part drums plus sequencer.

The synth engine has  11 oscillator models:
1. SH-4d
2. SH-3D
3. SYNC
4. SH-101
5. JUNO-106
6. CROSS FM
7. RING
8. WAVETABLE
9. CHORD
10.DRAWING
11.PCM

Each model is controlled by the oscillator section with parameters allocated to the four sliders, knobs and buttons, then the common sections of Filter (Ladder 24dB modeled), 2x ADSR and LFO sections for more hands on control.

The five part polyphonic sequencer allows for real-time and TR style step recording, with parameter recording of 4 lanes per step, plus on board FX for each part plus a master FX.

The synth engine is based on ZenCore but optimised for this particular instrument and as such does not integrate with the Roland Cloud ecosystem.

We had a visit from Andy to give us the low down on the unit.

SH-4D is available now priced at £549
