Synthfest UK 22: Studio-Electronics - MIDImini and SE-3

US The classic synths get upgraded and expanded      10/10/22

Simon from Soundservice-MSL introduced us to the Studio-electronics MIDI mini, celebrating its 30th anniversary with an updated re-release.

Though the recreated Minimoog architecture is all present and correct, the MIDI mini has a few extra tricks up its sleeves, including variable glide response with linear and exponential settings, the syncable Boomstar LFO with multiple waves, including sample and hold, oscillator cross-mod, sync and ring mod.

Built from premium components, the MIDI mini goes sonically beyond what you'd expect from a Minimoog, while retaining that big warm sound.

We also got a look at the SE-3, an update for the classic SE-1, with 4 envelopes, multiple LFOs, Paraphony, and multiple discrete filters from the Boomstar range.

MIDI mini available now. Price £4,000

SE-3 available now. Price: £2,000
