NAMM 22: SSL UF8 Updates and The BUS +

US More feedback, and an update to the classic comressor      09/06/22

SSL were showing updates to their UF8 Studio controller which has had an update  to allow for much more integrated parameter display on a separate layer. its kind of like a HUI but way more finessed, feature rich and integrated.

They also had their BUS+ which is a new take on the classic BUS Compressor which has been used to put the final touches on mixes and Busses for decades.

The BUS+ adds a bunch of new features, some of which we've seen in third party remakes such as the Better Maker (see our review). However it includes a bunch of clever filtering, saturation and sidechain features that make it more flexible.

Available now priced at £1999

BUS+ Features

  • 4 modes of operation - Classic Stereo, Sigma S/C Stereo, Dual Mono or Mid-Side
  • External side-chain inputs and sends
  • The authentic SSL Bus Compressor circuit
  • LOW THD Mode reduces low-frequency distortion caused by compression
  • F/B Mode alters the compression characteristics for a more 'relaxed' style of compression
  • 4K Mode - single VCA operation with variable harmonic distortion to bring some grit and grunge to the mix
  • Negative Ratios - for creative pumping effects and control of particularly loud signals
  • New Attack and Release options, including the new Auto 2 setting
  • MIX control for instant parallel compression
  • Moving-coil gain reduction meters
  • Unlockable Transient Expander
