Super Modified TR-707 .. Or Is It A 909?

US Multiple drum machines in one circuit bent box      07/09/21

The Roland TR-909 and 808 have had a years of press and plaudits, while in recent times the 606.has also been shown a lot of love. Here we have their sibling, the TR-707 in a super modified form; with numerous circuit-bending patch points, modifications, and the ability to play sounds from multiple classic drum machines.

The modifications have been expertly laid out by circuitbenders who are known for their professionalism and ingenuity - cramming a wild selection of non-native features to the machine. For the on-bard sounds they've deployed the EEPROM expansion by Harry Axten for a host of sounds from other drum machines too, including:

  • TR-707
  • TR-727
  • TR-808
  • TR-909
  • LinnDrum
  • LM-1
  • DMX
  • TR-707 + TR-727 mix (handy for those who don't own both machines)

Some might say it's sacrilegious, I think it's brilliant! More details on the modified monster here: https://www.circuitbenders.co.uk/drummachine/TR707.html
